Over-The-Counter (OTC) Market

Definition

The market maintained by securities dealers for issues not listed on a stock exchange. Many bonds and some stocks are traded over the counter. Forex is by far the larget OTC market and responds to the sentiment of traders immediately. OTC markets are largely unregulated – OTC trades are not cleared and may not be marked to market. Also called an unlisted market.
